Plumas and Sierra Counties
December 22, 2008
Both Plumas and Sierra counties are located north of Truckee in the Sierra Nevada mountains, each having extremely beautiful vistas, low populations and great access to all types of recreation, which make them a wonderful place to live or vacation all year round. Lakes, rivers, mountains all within 1000’s of square miles of National Forest create the perfect outdoor recreation area. Both these counties also have historical areas shaped by farming, ranching, railroads and gold mining in the early years of California. A few of the things to do when visiting Plumas county are wildlife watching, driving the scenic byways, snowmobiling, fishing, hiking, and exploring all the interesting towns. Sierra county is rich with unspoiled beauty and a population density of 4 people per square mile. As an indicator on the lack of traffic, there are only 3 traffic lights in Plumas county and none in Sierra county. Who wouldn’t want to live in such an incredible and diverse area?
Kings Beach
December 20, 2008
The Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista areas are some of the last sections of Lake Tahoe that remain somewhat untouched by the flurry of development sweeping the area. Their proximity to the Highways 267 and 28, the new restaurants, galleries, lakeside resort developments, and shopping areas all add to the area’s growing popularity.
West Shore
December 20, 2008
Historic and magical are two words that come to mind when talking about the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. From Tahoe City to Emerald Bay you can experience the best of Lake Tahoe recreation and spectacular scenery. With options such as water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, biking, camping, fishing and rock climbing, everyone will find an activity to suit their lifestyle. Some of the more popular sites to see in the summertime when visiting or living on the West Shore are Sugar Pine Point State Park, Vikingsholm Castle in Emerald Bay, the Tahoe Maritime Museum, and Meeks Bay. Popular resorts for winter time activities along the West Shore are Homewood and Granlibakken.
Housing on the West Shore is just as varied as the activities, with properties ranging from your typical “Tahoe Cabin” to a luxurious condominium complex. Also found on the West Shore are many types of subdivisions, perfect for either the local resident or the second home owner who wants to become a part of the fascinating natural beauty of Lake Tahoe. Each development has different amenities, so having an agent familiar with the area is a necessity when looking to purchase a home here.
One favorite local saying is “The West Shore is the best shore”. Call us today to find out just how true this is!
